Cong also questions centre’s anti-covid preparedness

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee on Monday reviewed the current Covid situation in J&K and the measures being taken by the Govt to provide timely treatment to Covid affected patients in hospitals and other quarantine centers set up by the Govt both in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Party also expressed concern over deficiency in medical facilities in far flung areas, laying emphasizes over improving health infrastructure across J&K, on war footing basis to deal with the medical emergencies and the fatal virus, which has engulfed entire J&K claiming hundreds of precious lives in Jammu and Kashmir.
JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir in a meeting of Senior Party functionaries and district Presidents held at Srinagar Party Office reviewed the current Covid situation and the facilities available in hospitals for patients, besides reviewed the availability of Oxygen, bedding capacities, ventilators and other medical aid required to grapple with the surge in Covid cases.
Pertinently JKPCC has set up Control Rooms both in Jammu and Kashmir to provide assistance to people, especially to Covid Patients and other deserving people, who are badly affected due to the lock down. JKPCC President received feedback from the leaders and districts Presidents of the Party in the meeting and also reviewed the measures that are being taken by the Govt in their respective districts to contain the fatal virus.
Mir said although LG administration is taking effective measures to arrest the situation, but there is a need to upgrade the health infrastructure without any further delay, besides focusing on health infrastructure in far flung areas , which have also started witnessing surge in Covid cases and need to be provided timely treatment to ensure that there is no further loss of lives.
Mir said people are witnessing ugliest situation due to surge in Covid cases, reiterating that they need to be more cautions, adhere to SOPs, which holds the key to safety of their near and dear ones. On this occasion JKPCC President expressed serious concern over shortage of vaccines and questioned the preparedness of Centre to deal with the second wave of Covid 19, which has devasted thousands of families across the country. Mere paper work and tall claims with regard to vaccination won’t resolve the crisis, there is a need to ensure supply of vaccines to States without any further delay, Mir told the Centre, urging it to ensure supply of vaccines, on war footing basis, he added. JKPCC President also emphasized the Party leaders and Workers to expand the circle of assistance and help poor people, besides ensuring timely medical aid to Covid Patients.
