Srinagar : Police on Sunday said it has busted a narco militant module and arrested one militant associate in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In a statement issued on Sunday police said “ On specific information, Kupwara Police has busted a narco-terror module by arresting one militant associate and recovering huge quantity of narcotic substance worth crores from his possession”.
Stating that the arrested militant associate has been identified as Mujasir Ahmad Lone son of Muzaffer Ahmad Lone resident of Karen Bala, police in it’s statement further said that 8Kgs of Heroin worth ₹50 crores was recovered from his possession and others persons involved in the said narco-militant crime have also been identified and efforts are on to effect their arrest.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the module was in close contact with Pakistan based handlers and were involved in drug trade & assisting financially to active militants in Valley” reads the police statement, adding that “the recoveries also exposed the inter connection between drug dealers and militants”.
Police in it’s statement also said that the module was also working for militants to strengthen their activities in the valley and misguiding and motivating the youth of the valley to join militant ranks. Saying that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been taken up, police in the concluding para of it’s statement appealed people to come forward with the information regarding drug Peddlers,smugglers .
