Srinagar: Congratulating medical professionals and calling them as Covid warrior for a breakthrough in flattening the frightening curve of Covid 19 second wave in cities and towns, Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Sunday exhorted the Jammu & Kashmir Government to take more steps for containing the spread of the fatal infection in rural areas. He said the dedication and devotion being exhibited by the medical professionals , particularly in Jammu & Kashmir in fight against the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic , at the cost of thier lives , was laudable.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Hakeem while eulogizing the services being rendered by the covid warriors , has called for focused attention to check spread of the infection in rural areas. ” Though medical professionals and the concerned administrators have succeeded in containing the rising graph of Covid positive cases on urban areas to some extent but the disease has now extended its tentacles in rural areas at an alarming level, which needs to be checked on war footing basis, ” Hakeem maintained. He urged the need for an appropriate Covid containment strategy in villages with a sense of urgency to prevent deaths due the disease. ” The strategy should encompass setting up of makeshift Covid isolation and treatment centers at village level with facility of medical oxygen cylinders and portable oxygen Concentrators , availability of essential drugs and Covid vaccine besides door to door tracking and testing of suspected Covid positive cases.
PDF Chairman has called for immediate implementation of the directions of Prime Minister about setting up of 5 isolation beds in each village panchayat adding that the facility would provide some relief to the poor and needy patients in rural areas who are short of accommodation at individual levels . He has also demanded to provide free of cost Covid kits to every Covid infected household in various villages and hamlets. Hakeem also appealed masjid committees and social organisations to join hands with the medical professionals and concerned administrators to collectively fight the Covid -19 pandemic. He has also urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide free ration to every house hold in Jammu & Kashmir adding that Covid lock down has affected every segment of the society.
