Jammu: The two days webinar (20-21 May 2021) on “Beekeeping-Opportunities and Challenges” was organized by AICRP (Honeybees and Pollinators), Division of Entomology, SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with National Bee Board, Govt. of India.
The Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J. P. Sharma was the chief guest.
The webinar was attended by scientists, policy makers and Agri-preneurs, students, scholars, teachers from all over the country. Dr. B.L. Saraswat, CEO, National Bee Board, Government of India, Dr. Balraj Singh, Project Coordinator, AICRP (Honeybees & Pollinators) ICAR New Delhi; Dr. P.K. Chunneja, Professor & Head, Department of Entomology, PAU Ludhiana; Dr. S. Devaneshan, Ex-Dean, Kerala Agriculture University and member APEDA, New Delhi; Dr. D.P. Abrol, Ex. Dean (FoA), SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Harish Kumar Sharma, Principal Scientist, Entomology, YSPHU&F, Solan; Dr. Suparn Kumar Sharma, Dean Faculty of Business, SMVDU, Katra; Dr. R. K. Gupta, Head, Division of Entomology, SKUAST-J; officers from the line departments viz. K.K. Sharma, Director Agriculture Production & Family Welfare, Jammu, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Director, Horticulture, Planning and Marketing (J&K), Rashid Ahmad Qadri, Secretary/CEO, KVIB (J&K), A.K. Sood, Chief General Manager, NABARD, J&K; Joint Director Agriculture (Apiculture and Mushroom), Department of Agriculture; Dr. Sandeep Kotwal, Executive Officer, KVIB, Jammu; progressive entrepreneurs namely Nirmal Kumar Varshney, Devbhoomi Jaivik Krishi Evam Madhumakkhi Palan Sansthan (NGO), Jatinder Pal, Samanyu Honey, Punjab delivered expert lectures during the webinar. Dr. Devinder Sharma, Asstt. Professor and Organizing Secretary of the webinar welcomed all the dignitaries, delegates and participants in the two days National Webinar.
Dr. Jagpaul Sharma, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension Education, SKUAST-Jammu, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu also deliberated their views in the Webinar.
Dr. R.K. Gupta, Professor & Head, Division of Entomology presented vote of thanks and highlighted the occasion of World Honeybee Day in view of the importance of Honeybees for the benefit of the mankind. Technical team consisting of Dr Manish Sharma, Professor and Head, Statistic and Computer Science, Faculty of Basic Sciences Dr Rajan Salalia, Senior Scientist (Entomology), Dr Punit Choudhary Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Jammu, Dr Sachin Gupta Associate Professor (Pathology) and Dr pawan Sharma Scientist Agril Economics, Directorate of Extension, SKAUST-J helped in smooth conduct of the webinar on virtual platform.
The proceedings of the day were recorded by Dr. Rajeev Bharat, Scientists-Agronomy, AICRP (Rapeseed Mustard) and Dr. Vivak M. Arya, Asstt. Professor (Soil Science).
