Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Police on Friday observed “National Anti-Terrorism Day” during which a pledge to fight against militancy was taken in all police establishments across the Kashmir.
The functions were organized while following social distancing norms and other Covid-19 protocols.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said “ the main function of the event was organized at District Police Lines Srinagar where IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar led the officers and policemen in administering the “Anti-Terrorism Day” pledge”, adding that “the IGP Kashmir read out the pledge to uphold and promote peace, social harmony and understanding among all fellow beings and fight the forces of disruption threatening human lives and values”.
Stating that the pledge function at DPL Srinagar was attended by DIG CKR Amit Kumar SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary and other officers and officials of district Srinagar.statement reads further, Police in it’s statement quoted IGP Kashmir as saying “ our motive is to end militancy in the Kashmir so as to create violence free environment for the common people who want to live peacefully”. The police in it’s statement also said that IGP appealed police, government forces and parents to work sincerely and exert more to stop recruitment of local youths into militants rank.
IGP Kashmir, according to the above referred police statement, also said that comprehensive and coordinated efforts by police, government forces, education & sports departments and family is need of hour. He as per the police statement reiterated that in order to give a chance to the local militants trapped in encounters the government forces delay reasonably operations to facilitate their surrender. He, according to the police statement, also said that various measures including sports activities, cultural events and other programs have been put in place to bring youth into the mainstream, but due to Covid 19 the activities have been halted. IGP Kashmir, according to the police statement further said that Police takes a pledge to condemn all forms of violence, militancy and its related activities. “A pledge function led by SSP PCR Kashmir Zubair Ahmad Khan-JKPS was also held at PCR Kashmir during which officers and officials took the pledge while following Covid-19 protocols”, reads the concluding para of the police statement.
