Book review: A Gift To Muslim Youth By Zahid Majeed

The book “A gift to muslim youth” is a beautiful piece written by a young and talented author Zahid majeed from south Kashmir. Author has given us what we needed right now for a well civilized society. He has touched various social issues like marriage, humanity, status of women and give reference of different religions and societies with a special reference to Islam. This book is undoubtedly a gift to muslim youth . Author has done justice with the title of the book .The book connects muslim youth again with it’s roots and religious values. It provides a clear picture of humanity and creates a wave of love and compassion among human beings. The book reflect light upon status of man on earth as a vicegerent of God .Thus a man should adopt certain qualities to maintain this vicegerency. The author makes us familiar with a fantastically simple formula of global peace. He also talks about the reasons of downfall of vicegerent (man).
Some reasons are like jealousy, greed and discrimination. Zahid majeed is blessed with a clear and optimistic vision . Through his precious book, he has cleared alot of misconceptions regarding the status of women in islam. While comparing status of women in different societies (arabian , Chinese and Greek societies) , the author tells us how islam is being targeted as a locus of gender injustice in the community. These lines of book clears every misconception regarding status of women in islam “many scholars write that true Islam means equality between male and female and the Muslim women’s oppression is due to patriarchial misinterpretation of Islam . Author also talks about marriage in light of islam and defined the terms like nikah, zawj, talaaq etc clearly . The book provides us with deep knowledge about the rights of wife and duties of husband in light of Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). In short this book guide us how home can be turned into paradise by following teachings of Islam .And also tells us how a well stabled and peaceful society can be established. Everyone especially our youth should go through books like this one should try to appreciate such profound works by talented and dedicated persons of our community. This work of Zahid Majeed is really a precious gift for our muslim youth.
