Several welfare measures taken, Rs 3.85 Cr released among 38500 registered Construction Workers
Baramulla: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar Thursday urged upon the people to cooperate with the administrative functionaries and supplement govt efforts while combating the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic. He said that only coordinated and joint initiatives of different stakeholders may prove beneficial to come out of these critical circumstances.
The DC made these remarks during a press conference convened to brief the people about various means and measures taken by the administration regarding COVID control.
Enlisting various initiatives, the DC said that 05 additional COVID-19 wellness centers have been established in addition to the already existing centers so as to cope up with the growing challenge. He added that a well equipped additional ward was also established at GMC Baramulla wherein the patients can be treated efficiently.
Regarding the availability of oxygen supply, the DC said that 03 oxygen plants are currently operating in the district and efforts are afoot to augment its stock position. He added that there is nothing to worry about the scarcity of oxygen supply besides emphasized upon the people not to heed the rumours that are making rounds in this regard.
When asked about the status of COVID-19 vaccination programme, the DC informed that about 70 percent of the target have been achieved and about 2.75 lakh eligible beneficiaries having age above 45 years and frontline workers, have been vaccinated.
Moreover, Kumar said that various welfare measures were taken and Rs 4.42 Cr was released among 44,200 registered building and construction workers as part of 1st instalment of COVID-19 relief announced by J&K administration.
