SMC ready to make functional first of its Covid wellness centre at Babadem : Mayor Srinagar

Srinagar:Mayor (MOS), Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu said on Thursday that the first of multiple SMC COVID Wellness Centers at Babedem is in a state of readiness to function as adjunct facilities with the designated COVID hospital JLNM at Rainawari.

A fifty bedded Covid wellness centre at Babadem which is fully equipped with the necessary required facilities including Oxygen Concentrators
Clean Washrooms,24 ×7 Power Backup, well ventilated and spacious rooms with round the clock doctors and paramedics to treat Covid patients, will be made functional in association with JLNM Hospital at Rainawari, where from a Designated Nodal Officer will work in regular coordination with the Nodal Officer from SMC.

The welness centre be monitored and managed by the designated covid hospital JLNM to which the centre will be attached as an extension.Mattu while expressing concern over the prevailing situation pandemic said that this wellness centre will be taken as level II Covid Care facility to manage mildly ill patients , referred from designated covid hospital JLNM having a physical proximity to the place. It was decided that “ the treatment regiment will be from the covid Hospital & no change in the same will be done at the wellness centre unless authorized by the treating consultant”.This was stated in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Mayor Srinagar in which Deputy Mayor, Srinagar Parvez Qadri, Chairman, Health and Sanitation Committee, SMC Mr Tanvveer Pathan Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mr Athar Amir Khan,
Principal, Govt. Medical College Srinagar Dr Samiya Rashid ,Joint Commissioner (R), Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mr Riyaz Ahmed Shah,
Nodal Officer Covid-19 Masarat Hashim Srinagar, Head of Department, Chest Disease Hospital Dr. Naveed Nazir, Medical Superintendent, JLNM Hospital, Rainawari, Health Officer, Srinagar Municipal Corporation.Secretary, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Executive Engineer (Mech.), Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Chief Sanitation Officer, Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
Transport Officer, Srinagar Municipal Corporation were present.

The aim of the meeting was also to take stock of the current status of Covid-19 in the city and discuss further strategy for containment of the spread of the pandemic including functioning of Covid wellness centers established by Srinagar Municipal Corporation.Mattu further said that two more covid wellness centres which will act as emergency centres to the designated hospital of Srinagar at CD hospital, and SKIMS are in a process of preparedness. He further said in the meeting that SMC will provide its full support in rendering the serives with regard to Sanitization and other basic basic facilities in case any of the hospitals are in need of.
