Srinagar: Main stream political parties and leaders of all hues have paid tributes to the Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq and Founder J&K Peoples Conference Khawaja Ab Gani Lone on their death anniversaries. Below are the statements of tributes as received from different political parties and top political leaders of Jammu & Kashmir
Mirwaiz led Hurriyat : On the 31st Martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed e Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammed Farooq and 19th death anniversary of Khawaja Abdul Ghani lone, Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid tributes to both the leaders, who lost their lives standing steadfast to their ideals and vision for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement mailed to several news agencies in Srinagar on Thursday Hurriyat Conference (M) also paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Hawal, saying that they were brutally killed by forces while carrying the body of Shaheed Mirwaiz.
“Shaheed Mirwaiz, being the scion of Mirwaiz family was an acclaimed Islamic preacher and a greatly gifted orator whose delivery of religious sermons (waz o tableeg) was so powerful and soul stirring that it was widely emulated by preachers across the valley. It deeply affected those who listened to him spiritually; bringing them closer to Allah and making them take stock of their own deeds with a view to self improvement,” the statement said.
Hurriyat (M) said that Mirwaiz was a multifaceted visionary who played a pioneering role in the educational and social upliftment of his people through the institutions he headed and also otherwise, and his contribution in these areas will always be recalled with respect and appreciation. “Unfortunately many of his dreams for development of these sectors remained unfulfilled as his life was cut short.” The statement said that a dearly loved and popular leader Shaheed Mirwaiz led his people boldly from the front in their political struggle. “He was an ardent and lifelong advocate of the realisation of the will and aspirations of the people of J&K in deciding their future and personally suffered on this account as he was jailed and repeatedly persecuted.” Hurriyat (M) said that Mirwaiz Farooq was a man of peace. “He always advocated peaceful coexistence and friendship between the neighbouring countries of India and Pakistan and was among the first exponents of dialogue as a means of conflict resolution between the neighbors.”
The statement said that Shaheed Abdul Ghani Lone was a heedful and fearless leader who sacrificed his life for his belief in a peaceful and pro people resolution of the Kashmir issue. “He was an intellectual who connected with the aspirations of his people and advocated it wherever he got a chance to do so.”
Hurriyat Conference (M) said that Lone’s contribution in the formation of the people’s platform of All parties Hurriyat Conference is pioneering and unforgettable. “People of J&K will always remember these great selfless leaders and will follow their footsteps.”
Hurriyat Confernce (M)reiterated that it will pursue the vision and mission of these great stalwarts in seeking the resolution of the Kashmir conflict. “The collective Fateh Khawani and commemorative public rally to be held at the Martyrs graveyard in Eidgah to honour the Shaheed leaders and the martyrs of Hawal stands deferred, in wake of the ravaging covid 19 pandemic second wave that the hit J&K badly.”
Besides, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also continued to be under arbitrary house detention since August 2019. PDP: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has paid glowing tributes to late Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone on their martyrdom anniversary describing them as the torchbearers of the State’s struggle for political and social justice.
In a statement issued here PDP President Mehbooba Mufti lauded the role of Mirwaiz and Lone in the peaceful struggle for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. “Both these leaders have played a critical role in the struggle for mitigation of the political, economic and social problems of the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” she said. Paying rich tributes to the deceased leaders, Mehbooba said the political turmoil in the State has given us thousands of wounds that would take years to heal. “The best tribute to these leaders would be the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue. If alive, both Mirwaiz and Lone could have contributed further towards political and social upliftment of Jammu and Kashmir, ” she said. PDP Vice President A R Veeri, General Secretaries Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura, Dr Mehboob Beg, Nizamuddin Bhat and senior leader Naeem Akhtar have also paid rich tributes to late Mirwaiz and Lone on their martyrdom anniversary.
Peoples Conference: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) on Thursday paid rich tributes to its founder Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq on their martyrdom anniversary. “In view of the ongoing pandemic, a commemorative meeting via the virtual mode of the PC leadership took place in which tributes were paid to Abdul Gani Lone on his 19th martyrdom anniversary and Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq on his 31st martyrdom anniversary”, said a statement issued by the party.
“Peoples Conference while paying tributes to its founder, Abdul Gani Lone said that the sacrifices rendered by him will become the torch bearer for the future generations of Kashmir who strive for the lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and in south Asia. The leaders noted that Abdul Gani Lone sahib will be remembered for his political astuteness, acumen and farsighted approach vis-à-vis finding a lasting solution to the vexed issue like Kashmir. They added that his assassination exemplifies the pain and agony of the people of Kashmir and how the nefarious miscreants are out there to tarnish the hopes of peace and stability in the region for their own vested interests.”
“The leaders further resolved to continue to tread the path shown by its founder and will never be deterred to pursue its agenda of peace, tranquility and stability of Jammu and Kashmir.” Terming Late Mirwaiz as a pious, noble and honest soul, the party observed that the immense contributions of Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq will be remembered for times to come and that he contributed greatly in serving the cause of Islam, education and public service in Kashmir. The statement further added that both Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq remind us of a golden era of politics where moderate politics and intellectualism were the defining attributes of leadership.
Hakeem Yaseen : Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has paid rich tribute to Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, on his 31st martyrdom anniversary.
While paying rich tributes to Mirwaiz, Hakeem said that Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq was a great religious preacher whose contribution in the socio- political and religious emancipation of Jammu and Kashmir was unparalleled . ” His contribution in the field of Islamic learning and theology in kashmir would be remembered for long , ” Hakeem added. PDF Chairman has also paid rich tributes to the Founder of the People’s Conference ,Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone on his 20th martyrdom anniversary. Hakeem prayed for eternal peace to the souls of both Late Molvi Mohammad Farooq and Late Ab Gani Lone .
Muzaffar Baig : Former Deputy Chief Minister and Peoples Conference senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig has paid rich tributes to late Abdul Gani Lone, observing that 19 years ago, on this day, Kashmir lost a seer and an earnest political leader.
In a commemorative statement, the PC leader termed Late Lone as one of the few world leaders who never used to substitute words for actions and never sought the path of comfort for himself. He added that Late Abdul Gani Lone will continue to inspire the generations to come and his teachings will give us a temper of will, quality of imagination, a vigour of emotions and a freshness of deep springs of life. He asserted that the reason for such deep respect from the people of Kashmir for Lone sahib is because of the fact that his key priorities as the veteran leader remained preventing conflict and promoting democracy. He said that Lone’s dream was to make Jammu and Kashmir a place where individual rights are respected, differences challenged politically and resolved peacefully. The PC leader also paid homage to Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq and highlighted his role in upliftment of society and making strenuous efforts for everlasting peace and tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir. “May the soul of both the leaders rest in peace,” said the party leader.
