Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday ordered a special drive against illegal and unauthorised constructions being carried out during COVID 19 lockdown in some parts of Srinagar city.
In a statement issued on Wednesday SMC said that the drive will be conducted from 21st May. “Commissioner SMC has constituted a special task force led by Joint Commissioner Planning to look into the constructions in the different wards of the city, identify the illegal and unauthorised constructions, initiate action including sealing & demolition in accordance with the Municipal Corporation Act” reads the SMC statement.
SMC in it’s statement also said that the task force has been directed to recommend action in cases where connivance or involvement of officials is found and a detailed ward wise schedule for the drive has been issued. “Chief Enforcement Officer, Chief AntiEncroachment Officer, Estates Officer, Antipolythene Officer, Zonal Officers are also the members of the task force”, reads the concluding para of the SMC statement, adding that “SMC is monitoring the construction activity on daily basis. Directions for strict action against violators have been passed”.
