Srinagar: Police in Kulgam on Sunday said that it has recovered a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued here on Sunday Police said “ on 15th May Police Station Kulgam received a complaint from a person stating therein that his daughter (name withheld) had been kidnapped by one person namely Aadil Akbar Bhat @Rahul son of Mohammed Akbar Bhat resident of Wazeerpora Bogund”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 84/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated, police in it’s statement further said that during the course of investigation a team headed by SHO PS Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam was constituted.
Saying that “acting on specific leads, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl and arrest the accused person within 24 hours after the complaint was received in Police Station Kulgam”, police in the above referred statement said “the accused has been shifted to PS Kulgam where he remains in custody”.
Stating that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities the girl was handed over to her legal heirs but investigation into the matter is in progress, police in the concluding para of it’s statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood and advised them to share information pertaining to social crimes with police with the assurance that efforts to curb social crimes shall continue.
