Srinagar : Detention of two sons of former Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman late Mohmmad Sehari on Sunday triggered a political row as Jammu & Kashmir police refuted the charges of PDP Chief and former Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir State Mehbooba Mufti that Sehrai’s two sons were detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) by Police. Kashmir Zone police on it’s twitter handle rebutted the charges of Mehbooba saying that Sehrai’s sons were arrested for shouting “ anti-national” slogans during funeral of their father in Kupwara and denied the charge that PSA has been slapped on them . Peoples’ Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone and former Union Minister Prof Saif Ud Din Soz also slammed Jammu & Kashmir Government for arresting the two sons of late Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai.
Police in Kashmir while rebutting the charges that two sons of Former Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai have been booked under Public Safety Act(PSA) and clarified that they have been already arrested for raising anti-national slogans during funeral of their father in Kupwara. Kashmir Zone Police on it’s twitter handle wrote “both sons of Late Sehrai & 4 others have been #arrested for raising #anti-national slogans during funeral. But, they haven’t been booked under PSA. Please don’t spread rumour.”
Earlier in the day PDP President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said ” PSA is GoI’s go to method for every problem. Latest example being Ashraf Shehrai’s sons who lost their father in custody due to inadequate medical care and have been arrested…”
Joing the row Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone in a tweet said “And y do u have to do that. Which society will condone ur actions. They lost their father who died while being in govt custody. What r u competing for—- ferocity. Point taken. Yes u do come across as ferocious, Cruel and Ugly. Now Can we have an end to this Rambo Culture. “
Former Union Minister Prof Saif Ud Din Soz on Sunday also question the detention of two sons of late Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai’s as he said that the move shows “government’s animosity” which he won’t appreciate. In a statement issued over the arrest of Sehrai’s sons Soz said “It is unfortunate that Former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Late Ashraf Sehrai’s two sons have been arrested by the police in connection with their involvement in pro-freedom and provocative slogans that had been raised in the funeral procession of Late Sehrai on 6th May at Tekkipora Sogam, Kupwara”, adding that “some people are adamant to see Ashraf Sehrai’s sons punished for the ideas of their father”.Stating that ” this is an obnoxious trait in the character of those who want to fight Ashraf Sehrai’s family after his demise”, Soz in his statement said “I reject this attitude with contempt”, adding that “the civilized world recently got an enjoyable advice from, now famous Holocaust Survivor Eddie Jaku, who rejected hate as a trait of human character”.
He also said “Eddie Jaku has rightly advised the world that, ‘Hate is a disease which not only destroys your enemy but you also.’
