Srinagar/May, 15:- Chairman People’s Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen in a letter to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has  while appreciating measures taken for containing spread of dreaded Covid-19 pandemic in Jammu and Kashmir  sought focused attention on containing the spread of the Coronavirus in rural areas also.
In a letter addressed to LG Manoj Sinha,Hakeem  while eulogizing measures taken by LG Manoj Sinha to contain spread of Covid-19 in jammu and Kashmir has said that the ” government, at this crucial time , especially when there is shortage of vaccines, must arrange the same and give instructions to administration that vaccines are made available and given to the masses at all designated places” .
In his letter Hakeem  has said that LG administration has taken a good initiative by sending teams to districts to monitor the situation adding that need of the hour was to visit rural areas because the people living in these areas are still not fully aware about the deadly virus and there were no appropriate health care facilities available to the people . ” Much more attention is required to been given towards rural populace by opening designated covid centers in rural areas otherwise it will not be possible to contain the virus fully , ” Hakeem observed.
PDF Chairman has urged LG to direct his administration to send teams to rural areas to create more awareness among rural populace about the devastating effects of the viral infection and to conduct vigorous and sustained vaccination 𝓭𝓻𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓼 to stop deaths due to covid infections , which has witnessed an alarming spike in the recent times. Hakeem  hailed decision of LG to provide financial support to Shikarawalas and ponywalas associated with tourism industry and had sought special financial incentives for ASHA workers and employees working on Hospital Development Fund (HDF) and NHM workers also who are working on meager wages in various health centres. He said these workers are working shoulder to shoulder with permanent medical staff , leaving no stone unturned in containing the virus.
” LG’s decision to provide relief to shikarawalas, ponywalas isf ans welcome step but at the same time thousands of casual Laboureres working in different departments also deserve to get their wages as the lockdown has badly hit all sectors ” . reads the letter .  Hakeem has also sought LG’s intervention for construction of Covid Hospital in Rishipora Budgam by the DRDO. He said that the vast chunk of state land available at Rishipora Budgam was centrally located and best suited for construction of Covid hospital by DRDO.
