Srinagar : The aspirants for this year’s academic arrangement in govt degree colleges of Kashmir valley have expressed their surprise and concern over the delay in the counseling for the candidates put in the merit list uploaded on the website of Govt College For Women M.A. Road Srinagar after 15th April this year by the Nodal Principal (GCW M.A. Road) for all advertised subjects according to the Guidelines advertised by J&K Higher Education Department. They have demanded immediate counseling of the candidates put in the above referred merit list as has been done in case of the candidates for academic arrangement in Government Degree College of Jammu region this year.
The aspirants for this year’s academic arrangement in govt degree colleges of Kashmir valley have in a statement issued through Dr Firdous Ahmad, Dr Saika , Dr Shaista Rasool, Dr Azad, Dr Younis, Dr Aqib Hamid, Dr Showkat, Dr Haseen and Dr Abid said “though notification was issued by the Nodal Principal on May 7 this year in which it was conveyed that the counselling for the engagement of Academic Arrangement candidates will be held from 8th May purely on merit basis as per the list displayed on the college website, but the counseling of meritorious candidates was deferred by Nodal Principal without any reasonable cause”.
Stating that most of candidates who are working in the colleges since 2019 are ineligible candidates having no Ph.D or NET degree and are demanding the continuity of their services despite having submitted the affidavits duly signed by the Magistrates mentioning therein ‘I will never claim the continuity of service in the department’ at the time of submission of application/joining”, the aspirants have said “Since last two meritorious candidates having MPhil., PhD, SET/NET/JRF, and PDF degrees remain idle at home because of abrupt changing policies of Higher Education department only in Kashmir but not in Jammu region”.
Citing delay in counseling and the attitude of the officials like Director Colleges, Nodal Principal, and other Higher Education officials the reason, the aspirants demanded counseling on the basis of merit list already framed by the Nodal Principal without any further delay to allowed them to serve the higher education departmen effectively. They also urged the Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education Department to look into the causes of the delay for their counseling even after framing the merit list and issuing a notification for the commencement of the counseling.
