Train service between Baramulla and Banihal resumed partially on Monday

Train service between Baramulla in north Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region resumed partially on Monday after remaining suspended for over 11 months due to COVID-19 pandemic. UNI

Srinagar: Railway authorities suspended train services from Banihal to Baramulla and vice versa immediately upto May 16.

“In view of the covid-19 situation in Kashmir Valley and as per the guidelines and SOPs issued by the government, the train services from Banihal to Baramulla and vice versa may be suspended forthwith up 16-05-2021,” reads official order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

The decision follows huge rush of passengers at stations amid continuing increase in the number Covid cases.

On Monday, JK reported 3614 cases, taking the total tally to 220546 while 56 people succumbed to the virus. (GNS)
