Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu held an online condolence meeting to condole the death of well known Jammu & Kashmir painters Sh. M K Bhat who was suffering from kidney problem, expired on 30th April, 2021, and Ms. Shahida Malik, on 19th April, 2021. Rich tributes were paid to the departed artists.
O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA, and other members expressed grief over the demise of the artists. Sh. Sharma shared his views on the contribution of these artists. He prayed Almighty to bless the departed souls with peace.
M K Bhat was born in Srinagar (Kashmir) on 10th March, 1944. He got Diploma in Fine Arts (5yrs) from Srinagar during 1965. He was a teaching faculty member at Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu from 1976 till 2001. During 2002, he shifted to New Delhi, where he worked in his own residency studio.
M K Bhat works have been creative and impressive oevver of colourful and conceptive semi- realistic figurative water colour paintings & drawings. He started creating art from Srinagar landscape in water and oil colours and later painted ‘Folktale Series’ in Pastel on paper. He had participated in many solo, group, national and international art exhibitions in India and abroad. He has received many awards also.
Shahida Malik had done 5 years course in Applied Art from Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), Srinagar. She worked as Artist- cum- Photographer at Department of Floriculture, Srinagar. She had participated in the Annual State Art Exhibitions of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL) in 1980, 81, 82, 83, 84, 2007 and 2009, and many International and National level Art Exhibitions organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA). She had also participated in All India Painters’ Camp orhanized by JKAACL at Jammu, Patni Top and Kargil.
The members of JKCCA and artists who attended the online condolence meeting included D P Abrol, Vice- President, Jang S. Verman, Advisor, O P Sharma, Director, Deepak Kumar, Anil Saraf, Ashok Mehra, Joginder Sharma and others.
