Srinagar: Police on Friday that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered from them contraband substances.
A police statement issued on Friday said “ a police party from Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Wadwan Chowk intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK04A-4106 with two persons on board identified as Javid Ahmed Beigh son of Abdul Rashid Beigh resident of Nasrullapora Budgam and Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh resident of Galvanpora Budgam and upon checking officers recovered 190 grams of Charas and 345 Anxit tablets from their possession”.
Stating the accused were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said “ vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police also said that in a similar incident a police party from Police Station Khag at a checkpoint established at Block Crossing Khag intercepted a suspicious person identified as Manzoor Ahmed Beigh son of Mohammad Ibrahim Beigh resident of Malpora Khag and recovererd 100gms of Charas from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases vide FIR numbers 116/2021 and 24/2021 under relevant sections of law have been registered in concerned Police Stations respectively and investigation have been initiated, police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, reiterating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
