DSEJ, UNICEF host virtual consultation on ‘COVID-19-Infection Prevention, Control’

Jammu: To create awareness and disseminate timely and correct information amongst students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders about COVID-19 IPC (Infection, Prevention and Control), the Counselling Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu, in collaboration with UNICEF, organized a virtual consultation session with Dr. Sheikh Saleem, MD (Community Medicine, GMC Srinagar) Health Consultant, UNICEF who was the key speaker and resource person for the event.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. In his opening remarks, he congratulated the counselling cell for choosing a very relevant issue considering the fear psychosis that has crept up because of the recent steep surge in Covid positive cases coupled with the fact that there is a lot of misinformation circulating on social media that needs to be countered with actual facts. Thanking Dr. Sheikh Saleem for his expertise and Danish Aziz, Education Specialist (J&K), UNICEF India for helping in conceptualizing the initiative and providing technical support for the same, he called upon the participants to disseminate and share the knowledge about the virus amongst as many people as possible so as to help in breaking the chain of infection.
Dr. Sheikh Saleem discussed the IPC – ‘Infection, Prevention and Control’ of Covid-19 virus in detail and with the help of an audio- visual presentation demonstrated various ways in which the infection spreads and gave a detailed account of preventive measures which are the need of the hour.
The session was held in two parts, wherein the participants raised queries in the second half and Dr. Saleem addressed the questions in depth. He also emphasized on the important facts to be considered by all.
Romesh Sharma, Head Counselling Cell DSEJ, speaking on the occasion divulged that the Counselling Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu will organize more such interactive sessions in the coming days on the subject and issues related to it as well.
Dr. Surinder Sharma conducted the proceedings of the event and team counselling cell coordinated in the smooth conduct of the session.
