Gang of thieves busted in Ang, 6 arrested, Stolen property recovered : Police

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag on Wednesday said that it has busted a gang of thieves by arresting 4 accused persons involved in different burglary/theft cases in Anantnag town and also recovered stolen properties worth lakhs were recovered from their possession.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “ during the course of investigation of Case FIR No. 113/2021 U/S 457, 380 IPC of PS Anantnag police arrested a gang of thieves who were active in Anantnag town and recovered stolen property from their possession and identified them as Aasif Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Rasool Malik resident of Old Eidgah Anantnag, Shabir Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Achidora Anantnag, Owais Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Nabi Sofi resident of Jhanglat Mandi Anantnag and Faisal Nazir Malik son of Nazir Ahmad Malik resident of Sarnal Anantnag.
Stating that besides, two more persons identified as Majid Ahmad Reshi son of Ghulam Mohiddin Reshi resident of Pushu Mohalla Anantnag and Hilal Ahmad Lone son of Mohd Ramzan Lone resident of Hanger Paripora involved in buying the stolen property were also arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said “during further course of investigation, officers learnt about their involvement in Case FIR Nos 13/2021, 14/2021, 24/2021, 30/2021 35/2021,50/2021, 54/2021, 59/2021, 78/2021, 97/2021, 101/2021 and 113/2021”.
Police in the above referred statement also said that stolen property worth lakhs including Maruti Alto JK18C-2335, Scooty JK03H-9632, Honda spray motor, Cigarettes, Gas cylinder, Home appliances, Micro wave oven, etc were recovered from the possession of the accused and further investigation is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected”. In the concluding para of it’s statement police resolved to act tough against individuals involved in criminal activities.
