Advisor Bhatnagar visits GMC Kathua, reviews COVID measures

Also inspects progress of work on oxygen generation plant

Kathua:  Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Wednesday visited Government Medical College, Kathua to review the COVID measures and to assess the progress of ongoing works on Oxygen Generation Plant here.

The Advisor directed authorities to expedite the work and ensure the commissioning of the plant within the shortest possible time. The Advisor directed DC Kathua to extend all logistic help to the team of Engineers to expedite the installation work of Oxygen Generation Plant and ensure its commissioning at the earliest.

Presently the availability of oxygen is through the manifold system which provides sufficient oxygen to the admitted patients. The Advisor directed the officials that adequate stock of cylinders should be maintained to deal with any eventuality.

While discussing the Covid control measures, the Advisor enquired about the bed availability and present bed occupancy scenario in GMC Kathua. He directed Principal, GMC Kathua to work on increasing the intake capacity at GMC Kathua to accommodate more Covid patients in the light of the new oxygen plant.

The Advisor was also apprised by the Health authorities about Home Isolation, Testing and Vaccination scenario of the district. He called for educating people about the benefits of Vaccination and clear their doubts.

Advisor Bhatnagar informed that Government has made sufficient provisions in health institutions for providing Level II and Level I Covid care health facilities besides arrangements to cater for the growing demand of Oxygen and related healthcare facilities in these institutions.

Terming Covid appropriate behaviour as quintessential remedy to get rid from Corona Virus, Advisor Bhatnagar said the basic measures like wearing mask, maintaining health Hygiene and Social distancing are key tools for everyone to minimise the chance of infection and its spread.

Pertinently, to augment the Oxygen availability in Government Hospitals, Government has sanctioned an Oxygen Generation Plant for GMC Kathua where 3 units of 750 LPM are being installed to cater the demand of Oxygen and become self sufficient.

DC Kathua, Rahul Yadav; SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal, Principal GMC Kathua Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat, CMO Dr Ashok Chaudhary, SE Mech., XEN Mech. Div Kathua Sunil Gandotra, HOD’s, and other concerned Officers were  present during the visit.
