9 arrested, 7 vehicles seized for illegal mining and transportation: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it have arrested nine persons and seized seven vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of raw materials in Baramulla.
A police statement issued on Tuesday said “Police parties from Police Station Baramulla, Police Post Mirgund and Police Post Kungamdara arrested nine persons and seized three tractors, 3 tippers & a JCB machine involved in illegal extraction and transportation of raw materials at Baramulla, Chandsuma, Singhpora Pattan and Kungamdara Chowk”, stating therein further that they were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in concerned police stations and investigations have been taken up, Police in it’s above referred statement asked people not to indulge in illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules, police in the concluding para of it’s statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and askedpeople to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
