Srinagar : Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF ) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to release all the political detenues on the eve of Eid-ul- fitr so that they could join thier families on this auspicious religious occasion. He said release of political detenues on Eid would go a long way to build a sense of goodwill and confidence among the people.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Hakeem sought unconditional release of all political detenues loged in and outside prisons of jammu and kashmir as a goodwill gesture .
He said release of political detenues on the eve of religious festival Eid-ul-fitre would be one of the much needed confidence building measures ( CBM) to end political uncertainly and lack of trust among the people of jammu and kashmir. He said kashmir is a political problem which can be solved amicably through the process of meaningful negotiations and reconciliation between the genuine statleholders. He said uptill resolution of the vexed kashmir imbroglio, the centre and the LG government should work towards the well being of the common people and redress thier grievances with regard to provision of basic amenities and fundamental rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution.
Hakeem Yaseen said that outbreak of the dreaded Covid pandemic too has necessitated to release the political prisoners to save them from the killer infection in the Jails , which by no means are equipped to deal with pandemic situations. He has also urged the need for shifting of all detenues from outside jails to Kashmir on humanitarian ground.
While welcoming decision for Covid lockdown to protect masses from the dreaded infection, Hakeem Yaseen urged the administration especially field agencies related to quality check and price control regulations to keep an eye on unscrupulous traders who by taking undue advantage out of the prevailing pandemic situations , sell goods to the hapless consumers at exorbitant rates. ” Blackmarkeers and hoarders should be given exemplary punishment for fleecing people in these testing times, ” Hakeem Yaseen stressed.
PDF Chairman has also urged the L. G and Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education department to build buffer stocks of Corono vaccine and corona testing kits do that Jammu and kashmir does not face any shortage in coming days, keeping in view the unprecedented surge in Covid positive cases. He said reports about shortage of Covid treatment drugs and vaccine in jammu and kashmir are worrisome adding that government should take warfooting measures to address all the concerns in this regard.
He has also advocated for sanction of special incentives in favour of front line workers of jammu and kashmir fighting the dreaded Covid – 19 disease at the cost of thier own lives along with the lives of thier family members . He has saluted valour of the front line workers fighting Covid pandemic with determination especially, doctors, paramedics and ASHA workers.
