9 arrested , 4 vehicles seized for illegal extraction, transportation of raw material in Budgam : Police

Srinagar: Police in Budgam on Wednesday said that it has Police arrested nine accused and seized 04 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of raw materials (clay, sand & Bajri) in Khansahab and Beerwah areas of district Budgam.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “In Khansahab, a police party of Police Station Khansahab arrested five persons who were illegally dredging sand and Bajri from Nalla-Shaliganga and were identified as Fayaz Ahmed Malik son of Mohammad Yousuf, Bashir Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat, Bashir Ahmed Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, Mohammad Altaf Bhat son of Fatah Mohammad Bhat, Mohammad Ashraf Malik son of Khaliq Malik, all residents of Dreygam Khansahab. They have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody”.
Stating that in a similar incident a police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Gondipora intercepted four vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JK04E-9999, JK04C-0099, JK04F-0999 and JK04C-4697 loaded with illegally extracted clay , police in it’s statement said that the drivers of the vehicles were arrested and identified as Abdul Majeed Dar son of Mohammad Sultan Dar, Abdul Rashid Wahi son of Gulam Mohammad Wani, both residents of Beerwah, Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Gulam Qadir Dar resident of Aariwah and Abdul Majeed Sheikh son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh resident of Gondipora , stating therein further that they were shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
“Cases vide FIR numbers 61/2021 & 53/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khansahab and Police Station Beerwah respectively and investigation has been taken up”, reads the statement further.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement police appealed people not to indulge in illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules and warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
