Srinagar: Police in Kulgam said on Tuesday it recovered a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime.
A police statement issued on Tuesday said “PS Kulgam received a complaint from a person stating there in that his daughter (name withheld) had been kidnapped by one person namely Sanik Ahmad Khanday son of Abdul Rashid Khanday resident of Tarigam and accordingly, a case FIR No. 62/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated”.
Stating that during the course of investigation a team headed by SHO PS Kulgam was constituted, police in it’s statement further said “acting on specific leads, the team recovered the kidnapped girl , arrested the accused person and shifted him to PS Kulgam where he remains in custody”.
“After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress”, reads the police statement, adding that “swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals”.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood and share information pertaining to social crimes with police.
