Srinagar: Police in Budgam said on Saturday that it has arrested two timber smugglers and seized illicit timber being carried on four horses.
A police statement issued on Saturday said “During the night intervening April 23 and 24, a special checkpoint was established at Sugen Bathipora forest area of Khag after receiving inputs about the movement of timber smugglers in the area following which the police party intercepted and arrested two persons carrying illicit timber on four horses”.
Stating that the timber smugglers were identified as Mohammad Ashraf Khan son of Abdul Gaffar Khan and Abdul Rashid Malik son of Mohammad Abdullah both the residents of Shonglipora Khag, police in it’s statement said “ both the arrested persons were shifted to police station where they remain in custody and the four horses used in the commission of crime have also been seized. A case vide FIR No. 15/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Khag and the investigation has been initiated”.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said that consistent actions against anti social elements are taken to show that efforts are on to keep society free of crime . Police also resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
