Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Friday appealed to the general public of Shopian district to co-operate with PDD for betterment of power supply.
To prevent the high incidence of electricity theft in the district Shopian especially during the holy month of Ramadan, the DC directed the PDD to form inspection squads to ensure that the power infrastructure does not suffer damage due to overloading and to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the district during the holy month of Ramadan.
He appealed to the general public to utilize the electricity judiciously to have a better power supply.
Accordingly, the PDD Shopian formed several inspection squads that are carrying out checks in the district including to curb the growing trend of power theft during the peak hours especially sehri and iftar time in the holy month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile as many as hundreds of transforms, cooking heaters, boilers were recovered by the inspection teams during the inspection of different areas.
Engineer Power Development Department Shopian said that the system is designed to operate at a certain load and it will certainly develop snags, like transformer damage, in case of overloading people should realize this and cooperate with PDD.
