Gandhi Nagar shootout case solved, 15 accused arrested: SSP Jammu

Jammu:Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have solved a shootout case of Gandhi Nagar by arresting 15 accused during the raids in several parts of the country.
Police said that ten pistols have also been recovered so far from the possession of accused persons.
In a news conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli said that an incident of shootout took place in Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu in which the unidentified persons attacked the house of one Nagar Singh and fired multiple rounds.
Acting swiftly, the police teams led by Station House Officer (SHO) Gandhi Nagar Bharat Sharma under the supervision of SDPO City South, Parshotam Kumar Mengi and SP City South Jammu Deepak Digra were constituted.
“Soon after this incident, special investigation teams were constituted and many people were zeroed in,” SSP Jammu said. He said the names of four persons figured in the case initially but all four were missing after which multiple raids were conducted across Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, which failed to prove fruitful.
“Later, on another information, a raid was conducted with the help of Hyderabad police in Hyderabad and four accused were nabbed,” SSP said. He further informed that during the course of investigation, they have arrested 15 persons so far.
“We have so far recovered ten pistols from their possession and more arrests are on cards,” SSP said.
He also said that Jammu police achieved success in solving this shootout case within twenty days and police carried out the investigation in a professional manner.
SSP Jammu identified the arrested accused as Royal Singh, son of Manjit Singh of Mohall Dalphatian Jammu, Ajay Singh, son of Tarloki Nath of Jagti Nagrota, Jammu, Jasbir Singh @ Kaka, son of Gian Singh of Agra Chak RS Pura Jammu, Kuldeep Kumar @ Kamal, son of Sat Pal of Talli Morh Miran Sahib Jammu, Kuldeep Kumar @ Hunny, son of Baljit Singh of Swaran Vihar Camp Gole Gujral Jammu, Surinder Singh @ Babu, son of Ashok Kumar of Khour Salarian Ramgarh Samba, Deepak Sharma, son of Radhey Sham of Jawahar Nagar New Plot Jammu, Amandeep Singh, son of Manjeet Singh of Dadyal Ramgarh Samba, Rishav Bhat, son of Ravi Kumar Bhat of Sarwal Jammu, Rakesh Choudhary @ Chota Sethi, son of Surjeet Singh of Ramgarh Samba, Vijay Kumar, son of Karam Chand of Trandi Ramgarh Samba, Supreet Singh @ Raja, son of Devinder Singh of Mohalla Dalphatian Jammu, Yudhvir Singh @ Bablu, son of Ayya Singh of Agra Chak RS Pura Jammu, Babar Khan @ Babar, son of Ghulam Nabi of Bhawani Nagar Jammu and Pritam Singh @ Sethi, son of Mohan Singh of Ramgarh, Samba.
SSP said that the accused Pritam Singh, Babar Khan @Babar, Yudvir Singh @Bablu and Supreet Singh @Raja were arrested during the raid at Hyderabad and others were arrested in different raids in different parts.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed that they fired the shots from their pistols. “We are further investigating the matter in a professional manner and everyone linked with this crime will be dealt with strictly as per the law,” SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli said
