Extortionist gang busted in Sopore, 4 held, ncriminating materials recovered : Police

Srinagar: Police in Sopore said on Friday that it has busted a gang of extortionists and arrested four persons including a surrendered militant, besides recovered incriminating material from their possession.
A police statement issued on Friday said “ Sopore police received a complaint from Muhammad Ashraf Lone son of Noor Muhammad Lone, resident of Highland Colony, Sopore stating therein that few days back some unidentified persons wearing masks entered his clinic and threatened him that a hit warrant has been issued against him by askar e Toiba /JeM and if he wouldn’t pay Rupees 5 lakh he will be eliminated”, stating therein further that a letter on the pad of Jaish Muhammad was also handed over to him where in he was directed to assist the militant organisations by providing financial assistance for carrying out their activities in the area.
Stating that a case vide FIR number 93/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was initiated, police in it’s statement further said “a special team was constituted to identify and nab the culprits involved in the commission of crime and during the course of investigation, Sopore police after tireless efforts arrested four persons identified as Hilal Ahmed Patoo son of Ab Khaliq Patoo resident of Check Roady Khan Sopore, Tahleel Nisar Ahanger son of Nisar Ahmad Ahanger, Imram Aziz Gilkar son of Ab Aziz Gilkar both residents of Lal Bab Sahib, Sopore and Mudasir Hassan Ganie son of Ghulam Hassan Ganie resident of Chinkipora, Sopore who were found involved in the commission of crime”.
Police in it’s statement also said that Hilal Ahmed Patoo is a surrendered militant and incriminating materials including letter pad and printer have been also recovered from their possession and further investigation in the matter is going on.
