Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Thursday held a meeting of its District Presidents of Kashmir Province at its office in Lal Chowk Srinagar to assess the progress on Party’s membership drive that was launched recently.

The meeting was chaired by Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and attended by district presidents besides the Party’s senior leadership. All the participants maintained COVID-19 SOPs and followed social distancing norms during the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Bukhari said that looking at the progress report of the membership drive launched by the Party; it seems that the target will be achieved within the stipulated period of time.  He said that it is the duty of every Party worker including the leadership to connect as many people with the party as they can.

“It is just the beginning. People are joining Apni Party because they are truly impressed with its pragmatic political approach and delivery on its commitments,” Bukhari observed. He emphasized on the party office bearers and workers to disseminate the Party’s socio-economic and political agenda on the ground.

Bukhari said that the membership drives should focus on mobilization of men and women at micro level to strengthen and expand progressive space across Jammu and Kashmir. “We need to encourage men and women from all walks of life to get connected with the agenda of our Party. It is our primary responsibility to carry forward our program to the grass root level with an aim to strengthen the Party and counter the government on different issues confronting the people across J&K,” he observed.

Bukhari said the Apni Party stands by its politics of truth and remains steadfast on its commitments made with the public. “The party’s agenda has always been in line with peace, progress and an equitable development of Jammu and Kashmir and restoration of Statehood is the prime objective of the party,” he added.

Apni Party President expressed serious concern over the sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed on the administration to ensure that SOPs and WHO guidelines are followed on the ground in letter and spirit.

He also underlined the need for making Covid vaccine shots available as per the population and urged the Central Government to ensure that an ample supply of the vaccines is delivered to the UT of J&K along with emergency drugs like Remdesivir.

Bukhari also appealed to the people to cooperate and follow the COVID guidelines properly for their own safety. “Even if we have got vaccinated, we need not to be complacent and should follow all the SOPs issued by the government in letter and spirit,” he added.
