Srinagar: The 434-km Srinagar-Leh national highway, the only road connecting the Kashmir Valley with the frontier region of Ladakh, was thrown open today Afternoon for carrying essential supply vehicles after remaining closed for about four months.

Official we were allowed to move towards Ladakh and in second phase trucks carrying vegetables and other essential commodities permitted to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil.

The road was closed due to heavy snowfall, especially on the Zojilla Pass that connects the Valley with the cold desert Ladakh region.
