Rajouri: Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the district, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan Wednesday met with representatives of market associations and held a threadbare discussion in connection with the regulation of markets in the district.
Detailed discussion was held in the meeting in connection with the strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols at the market places, staggering or reduction in the operational timings of the markets and other issues.
The District administration and traders associations agreed to open 50 per cent shops in markets on one day and the rest the second day by adopting the odd-even strategy.
The district administration has also allowed the 50 per cent shops to remain open within municipal limits from morning 08 AM till 08 PM six days a week, while the markets will be closed on Sunday.
However, the shops selling essential items like chicken, mutton, dairy, fruit and vegetables, medicines, bakeries shall remain open on all days from 07 AM to 07 PM.
The night curfew has also been imposed within the municipal limits of the district from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM with the relaxation to be given for morning and Travi prayers. There would be no restrictions on emergency services.
“Anyone found not wearing a mask in the market will be fined. All shopkeepers have been asked to keep spare masks and hand sanitisers,” the Deputy Commissioner informed.
“Persons with 45 yrs and above age have to keep COVID-19 negative report and Vaccination certificate before entering the market places,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
The Deputy Commissioner said market associations can play an important role in the fight against COVID-19.
The Deputy Commissioner also sought their cooperation to ensure appropriate COVID behaviour at market places.
He also informed that initially, these restrictions shall be applicable in urban areas falling under the jurisdiction of municipal council and committees in the district.
