Jammu /April, 21: Police in Jammu on Wednesday said that one drug peddler was arrested in Gangyal Jammu and 816 Gms of Charas were recovered during searches. A police statement issued on Wednesday said that continuing it’s drive against the drug menace Jammu police recovered 816 gms of charas, saying that local intelligence was developed and, several nakas were laid at different locations subsequently.
Stating that one such naka was led by SHO P/S Gangyal Inspr. Raghubir Singh at Purmandal Morh whereby they rounded up a suspect namely Shafat Hamid Dar S/O Ab Hamid Dar R/O Wadura, Tehsil Sapore, Distt Baramulla, driver of tavera bearing registration number Jk03D-1321 which was coming from Bari Brahmana side,police in it’s statement said that 816 Gms of Charas were recovered from the possession of the accused
“A Case FIR No. 55/21 U/S 8/20/ NDPS Act got registered at P/S Gangyal and accused got arrested. The overall arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Parshotam Kumar Mengi”, reads the police statement, adding fhat “further investigation of the case is going on” .
Police in it’s statement also said that Jammu Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace. Police in the above referred statement also appealed people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on 9086100100 or 100 with Police for the cause and assured that the identity of the performers will be kept confidential.
