Srinagar: Senior Vice President Jammu & Kashmir Apni Partt Ghulam Hassan Mir on Friday raised concerns over the unavailability of reliable statistical data on the COVID-19 inoculation drives carried across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Mir said that the COVID-19 second wave is now wreaking havoc around the whole country but there appears to be an eminent lack of dependable data regarding the COVID-19 vaccination program in J&K.
“The government must clear the concerns of the people at an earliest. There is no data available which could suggest about how many people across J&K have been inoculated so far,” he observed.
He also said: “Furthermore, much needed breakdown of the said data should have been made available based on different age groups, which could have helped for future strategy to tackle this menace.”
He stressed that the administration must also release the data about vaccination shots received by the frontline warriors like doctors, nurses, municipality workers and teachers.
“The data regarding vaccine shots received by our frontline warriors should also be made public as they are the most vulnerable of us all to get infected. Moreover, the government must pace up the vaccination drive and should also bring other age groups under the program,” he remarked.
On the availability of vaccine shots, Mir said that the Central Government must ensure that an ample supply of the vaccines is delivered to J&K along with emergency drugs like Remdesivir.
