Srinagar: Police in Srinagar on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police statement issued on Friday said “ officers at a checkpoint established at Shalteng Parimpora signalled three persons to stop for checking but one of them fled from the spot while the two persons identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Shalteng Parimpora were apprehended and 250 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession”.
Stating that on questioning, the duo revealed the identification of the third person as their associate namely Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Habib-ul-lah Dar resident of Parimpora Srinagar, police in the above referred statement said “efforts are on to nab the accused person and meanwhile a case FIR number 67/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated”.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
