Drug peddler evading arrest since 8 months held in Kulgam: Police

Kulgam: Police in Kulgam on Thursday said that it has arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest from last eight months for his involvement in many cases of drug peddling.
Stating that after receiving inputs about the movements of an absconder a Police party headed by SHO PS Qazigund under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund raided a specified location and subsequently arrested the absconder from Qazigund area identified as Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Jamal Sheikh resident of Drian Qazigund.
Police in the above referred statement said that the detained absconder was wanted by law for his involvement in case FIR number 251/2020 U/S 15, 18 NDPS Act & 48 Excise Act of PS Qazigund related to the recovery of huge quantity of Illicit Liquor, Charas and Poppy Straw from a hotel at Drian crossing.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said five other drug peddlers arrested in the said case are already facing trial before the Court and further nvestigation is in progress. Police in it’s statement also reiterated that consistent actions against anti social elements are part of the efforts made to keep society free of crime, stating therein that police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
