Geelani’s tweet on strike call “fake”, issued by someone from Pakistan : Police

Srinagar/April, 15: Budgam Police on Wednesday said that a tweet attributed to Syed Ali Shah Geelani is fake as the authenticity of the tweet has not been confirmed by family to police.

Police issued a statement after twitter handle, attributed to ailing former Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani reported about a strike call for tomorrow on “Friday”.
Contesting the factuality and authenticity of the tweet attributed to Syed Ali Shah Geelani police in a tweet Police said t “as per family sources of SAS Geelani, the tweet is fake and issued by someone from Pakistan. Police is taking action against those who are circulating it through social media . FIR No 265/20 13 ULA(P) & 505 IPC stands registered in PS Budgam.”
The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar also appealed people to carry out their normal activities in the holy month of Ramzan without paying any heed to rumours on social media.
