Srinagar: Schools across Kashmir are finding costly lab equipments unsafe in absence night guards at the schools as the school heads fear that burglars may take away the equipment during nights when there are no no guards on duty .
Sources said government schools earlier this year received digital push with 128 Computer Aided Learning Centres; 200 ICT Labs established under Samagra Shiksha across J&K but these costly equipments are unsafe as government has not engaged night chowkidars for gaurding schools during the nights.
As already reported secondary and higher secondary Schools across the Jammu and Kashmir have been equipped with digital labs including, desktops, projectors and other costly tools have been provided by the government with the aim at making studies more interesting and result-oriented, but most of the schools are without night Chowkidars.
Teachers at a government school in North Kashmir said “costly equipments for digital computer labs were privded but they are worried about the safety.
Our school is without night chowkidar and a fencing wall. It can become a soft target for robbery any . The administration should create posts for night chowkidars in these school” they added. When contacted Secretary School Education, BK Singh said, ” at the moment we don’t have posts for night chowkidars, but we always believe that safety and security of school property is issue of prime concern.
