Srinagar: Jammu-and-Kashmir police in Handwara on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two newly recruited militants and three associates of albadar outfit in handwara area of kupwara district.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said following inputs Handwara Police along with 32 RR and 92 Bn. CRPF established a naka at Kachloo crossing on Baramulla Handwara Highway.
Stating that during search/ checking three persons riding a motorcycle were found in suspicious condition who on seeing the search party tried to escape from the spot but were apprehended by the search party, police in the above referred statement said that the apprehended persons on preliminary questioning disclosed their identity as Mohd Yaseen Rather S/o Mohd Akbar, Showkat Ahmad Ganie S/O Sonaulla Ganie and Gh Nabi Rather S/o Wali Mohammad all residents of Village Kachloo Qaziabad.
“During further questioning it came to surface that the trio are working with militant outfit Albadar as OGW’s and are providing logistic support, food and shelter to the said militant outfit”, reads the police statement adding that “they (accused) were also helping to create OGW network for militant outfit and were identifying safe routes for their movement.
Stating that Case FIR No. 20/2021 U/s 7/25 I.A.Act, 13,18,25,39 ULA(P) Act has been registered in Police Station Kralgund and investigation set into motion, police in it’s statement further said that during investigation the arrested persons disclosed that two other persons known to them have recently joined the militant ranks and are operating in Handwara area.
Police in it’s statement also said that Handwara Police along with 21RR launched a cordon and search operation in the forest area of Baderkali following which two persons along with arms and ammunitions were arrested and identified as Saleem Yousuf Rather S/o Mohd Yousuf Rather, Iqhlaq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Imtiyaz Ahmad both residents of Watergam.
Stating that the duo have joined militants ranks recently and were planning to attack government forces installations, pancha, sarpanchs and other peace loving people to create violence in the area, the police in the concluding para of the statement said that the accused have been formally arrested in the instant case and further investigation is going on.
