400th Birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji: Div Com discusses activities to be held in Jammu

Jammu,: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer Saturday chaired a meeting of prominent citizens and officers of various departments to discuss the activities to be held in Jammu to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, the ninth Sikh Guru.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Director School Education, besides senior officers of JPDCL, Jal Shakti, PWD, Youth Services and Sports, Culture, Information and other concerned. Presidents of Sikh organisations, prominent Writers, citizens were also present in the meeting.
Pertinently, the Prime Minister of India on April 8 had announced year long activities/events to be held across the country to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has also constituted a committee for finalizing activities to mark the celebrations in J&K.
The Divisional Commissioner emphasized on the participation of all the communities in the celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.
Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the activities planned for celebrations on May 1 and May 16 in Jammu, which include Essay writing competition, Repair and Renovation works at Gurdwara Reasi, development of Ghat, Documentaries on life of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Light and musical shows, Holding of social media campaigns for spreading awareness among the general masses regarding life history and sacrifices of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, Plantation drives and illumination of Gurdwaras.
The Prominent citizens and concerned officers also gave their valuable suggestions for successful celebration. They suggested holding of Seminars, Nagar Kirtans, Kavi Darbar, Painting Competitions, Plays, skits, Marathon (Run for Harmony), Human chain, screening of informative documentaries, and holding of tournaments on the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to start preparedness for celebration of this grand event. He also instructed the concerned to keep on changing the venues of the functions so that everyone could participate in the celebration.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed that every activity should be attractive and impart knowledge to young generation about the teachings and sacrifices of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji
