One-Day Workshop on Developing Writing Skills” organized by GDC Sogam, Kupwara

Kulgam: A One-Day Workshop on “Developing Writing Skills” was organized by the Department of Islamic Studies in collaboration with Debates & Seminar Committee of Govt. Degree College Sogam (Lolab), Kupwara on 8th April 2021. The major objective of this Workshop was to provide the students a platform not only to learn and understand the basic rules, methods and techniques of Writing, but also to help them in expressing and exploring their skills, abilities, and potential as ‘emerging’ Writers in their respective interesting fields. Accordingly, the Workshop revolved around the major theme of “Turning Potential into Performance”.
In its Inaugural session, Prof. M. Shafi Lone (Principal, GDC Sogam; Patron, Workshop) welcomed the resource persons and participating students and emphasized on the importance of reading and writing vis-à-vis today’s technological world. Dr Mudasir Ahmad Shah (Asstt. Prof., English, GDC Boys Sopore) and Dr Tauseef Ahmad Parray (Asstt. Prof., Islamic Studies, GDC Sogam; Convener, Workshop) ) were the key resource persons in this Workshop. In the first technical session, Dr Mudasir Ahmad delivered thought provoking lecture on “How to Write an Effective Article” and highlighted its structure/ format and methods of writing effective articles in English language. Dr Tauseef Ahmad shared his experiences on “Writing book Reviews: An Easy Guide”. Both the presentations were followed by Q&A session.
The presentations were followwd by the Valedictory session in which the participants gave their feedback and later the Certificates/ Mementoes were distributed among the Resource Persons and the participants. The Workshop concluded with Vote of Thanks by Prof. Sajad Ahmad (Asst. Prof., English; Coordinator & Moderator of the Workshop). Around 50 students of various artist semesters along with many faculty members participated in this Workshop.
