VC inaugurates Inter Departmental Sports Tournament at BGSBU

Rajouri: Prof. Akbar Masood Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University inaugurated Inter- Departmental sports tournament-2021 organized by the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports at University campus here on Tuesday.

While inaugurating the tournament Vice Chancellor BGSBU Prof. Akbar Masood who was chief guest on the occasion said that Sports and games are the integral aspects of a student’s life. Prof. Akbar said that Sports and games have many benefits and other than physical wellbeing, it upsurges the confidence, self-respect and mental ability which are some of the essentials of personal and professional development of an individual.  On the occasion, Prof. Akbar urged the students to engage in sports for physical and mental development. He said that the University would make every possible effort to provide state-of-the-art sports infrastructure to encourage the participation of students in different sports activities organized with and outside the Campus. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Akbar said that the University has established “BGSBU Sports Club” and captions various teams will be honoured with the Coveted University Blazer and awards.

On the ocassion, OSD , Directorate of Physical Education and Sports Mr. Mohammad Rashid Chowdhury while welcoming the  the Vice Chancellor introduced different teams and informed that in the tournament 42 teams representing different departments are going to participate.

On the first day, four Volleyball  matches were played between teams of Teaching and Non Teaching Facilities, Department of Mathematics and Department of Physics , SOET A and SOET B, SOET C and SOET D.Teams that  won the matches  included  Team of Teaching faculty, Mathematics , SOET D and SOET A. In Table Tenis  Team E won the title by 2-1. Teachers who won the title in TT singles included Er. Waseem Shahnaz, Er. Hyder Mehraj , Ed. Gowhar, Dr. Sanjay Jamwal and Er. Vishal Sharma.

Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean of Students Prof. G. M.Malik, Registrar, Mohd. Ishaq , Heads of Various departments, Faculty members, Officers of The University were present in the inaugural ceremony.
