DDC Shopian launches Cleanliness Drive

Shopian: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Tuesday launched a Cleanliness Drive here at Mini Secretariat, Arhama, Shopian.
Various officers and officials participated in the drive as a continues efforts of district administration to keep all government office premises clean and green.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation especially during the situation of Covid -19 pandemic, DDC said that the drive was launched with an aim to ensure cleanliness is maintained at all places of public significance.
He emphasized on that the broader message of the drive is followed in letter and spirit and instructed concerned to ensure their cooperation and coordination as necessary in achieving the goal of a safe environment.
Emphasizing upon awareness dissemination about hazards effects of improper dumping of garbage, DDC urged for use of dustbins.
During the drive, environment friendly plantation of different species viz Amla, Jamun, Arjun, Chinar, Raat Ki Rani, China Rose, Chinar tree saplings, canifer tree saplings along with varieties of flowers were planted during the drive, besides surroundings of the road leading to DC Office Complex were also cleared off garbage and dust.
Speaking on the occasion DDC said that such drives shall be conducted routinely for proper implementation of Green Law. He instructed that every employee shall plant a tree on the occasion for the beautification of the DC Office Complex. He said that the aim of the drive is to make the officers/officials aware about the importance of clean surrounding and proper hygiene.
He said that the plantation of trees /grown flowers at a large scale will not only curb deportation and soil erosion but also help to maintain biodiversity to revitalize life on planet earth and send out a message in society about the importance of trees/flowers.
On the occasion, participants cleaned several locations having vital public importance which was highly appreciated by all.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr.Sheikh Abdul Aziz, ACR, Revenue, JD planning, DPO,besides all the officers/officials took part in the drive.
