Srinagar/April, 4 : Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched an extensive cleanliness drive at DoodhGanga under the Campaign ‘Sundays for Srinagar’.
The drive was taken up in Doodhganga water channel connecting river Jhelum from ChattaKadal Chattabal . At least 200 sanitation workers equipped with required tools/ equipments were engaged to clear tons of accumulated garbage. Besides clearing garbage an awareness campaign was also launched and the residents were requested to refrain from littering the water channel. People from various walks joined the drive.Besides Volunteers from different fields, the NGO’s also participated on the occasion.
Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan who along with other senior officers of Corporation including Joint Commissioner Administration Syed Abul Qasim was a part of the drive encouraged and appreciated all the volunteers including SMC teteam and has made an appeal to the people to join us in the Sunday for Srinagar campaign.
