Bandipora: In connection with celebration of 75th anniversary of India’s Independence ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Saturday kick started the plantation drive by laying foundation of High Density Apple orchard at Arin, Bandipora.
Dr Owais on occasion planted an Apple tree at the High Density Apple plant at Arin.
The DC said that the plantation drive aims not only to ensure an increase in green cover but also to make available high yielding Fruit Trees in the trees so that progressive farmers are attracted towards these modern techniques for better income.
Officers informed that the Department of Horticulture has set up the Model HD Apple Orchard that will act as a model for the progressive farmers to use HD fruit trees for better income. He said the orchard has been set up on 7 kanals with all modern facilities available including drip irrigation mechanism
Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Chief Horticulture Officer Bandipora and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
