Srinagar: Police in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have arrested seven persons and seized seven tractors in Bandipora.
A police statement issued on Saturday reads “Officers from PS Aragam & PS Bandipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora raided Tangwani Nalla Garoora Aragam and Mahumati Nalla Bandipora and seized 7 tractors which were being used to transport raw materials illegally extracted from the nallahs”, adding that “the seven drivers who were illegally extracting and transporting minerals from nallahs have been arrested and shifted to police stations where they remain in custody”.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Aragam and PS Bandipora and further investigation has been initiated, police in the concluding para of the above referred statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
