Srinagar/April,3 : The Jammu & Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (J& ACB) on Friday said that head constable of police station Gund Kangan was arrested while accepting bribe after trapping him on a complaint .

A statement issued on Friday by the Anti Corruption Bureau said that received a complaint through ACB  Whatsapp helpline from the complainant alleging therein that he has solemnized/performed his marriage some twenty years back. Stating that few days ago a dispute had arisen between the complainant and his wife after which his  in-laws  filed a written complaint against him in the Police Station Gund, the ACB in the above referred statement said ” the said dispute was later-on amicably settled by a police official of Police Station Gund, namely, HC Gulzar Ahmad, by way of mediation and to this effect a compromise deed was executed between the parties on 31st March, 2021″.

Claiming that since, then the above mentioned police official was calling complainant  on his phone repeatedly and demanding an amount of Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only) for issuance of the  true copy of the compromise deed entered into between the parties, the ACB in it’s statement said “on receipt of the complaint, a case FIR No.06 of 2021 U/S 7 PC Act. 1988 IPC was registered in Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation was taken up”.

Stating that a  trap team was constituted which in  a successful trap  caught Head Constable Gulzar Ahmad of Police Station red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant, the ACB statement said ”  the amount of bribe to the tune of Rs. 2,000/- was also recovered on the spot following which he was arrested and taken in custody by ACB team”.  “Further investigation of the case is going on”, reads the concluding para of the ACB statement.
