LG, mainstream leaders condemn Sopore attack

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha and several mainstream leaders of Jammu & Kashmir on Monday condemned the attack in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in which a Municipal Councilor and a policeman were killed.
In a tweet, the office of LG said that perpetrators of this incident will be brought to justice very soon and also expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families.
“I strongly condemn the killings of Municipal Councillor & police personnel by Terrorists at Sopore.Perpetrators of this heinous act of violence will be brought to justice very soon.Heartfelt condolences to bereaved families of martyrs & prayers for eternal peace to departed souls,” Office of LG J&K tweeted.
Meanwhile, National Conference (NC) President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and party’s Vice President Omar Abdullah condemned the killing of a Councilor (MC Sopore) Reyaz Ahmed and PSO Shafat Ahmad.
The party president and Vice President while condemning the attack in unequivocal terms, said brutality has no place in any emancipated society.
In a statement issued here on Monday the duo termed the incident unfortunate and urged the police to investigate the case and nab the culprits behind the attack. The duo also expressed unison with the bereaved families and prayed for fortitude to them and peace for the deceased.
Meanwhile party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, MP Muhammad Akbar Lone, District President Baramulla Javed Dar, Spokesperson Imran Nabi have also condemned the incident and expressed condolences with the families of the bereaved.
CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has condemned the killing of a Municipal Councilor and a policeman in Sopore.
Terming the killings as inhuman and barbaric, he said that violence in any form is condemnable and there is a need to put an immediate end to these civilian killings. He expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) strongly condemned the Sopore militant attack, describing it as a mindless and shameful act.
In a statement, JKPCC condemned the militant attack in which Municipal Councilor and Special Police Officer were killed.
JKPCC expressed grief over the loss of precious lives and said “such mindless and shameful acts are not acceptable, and deserve strong condemnation from every section of the society.”
JKPCC conveyed deepest condolences to the family of slain councilor and SPO and prayed for eternal peace to departed souls and recovery of injured. JKPCC also urged the government to take immediate effective measures to contain such inhuman and cowardice incidents
