Rajouri: A one day National Webinar on the topic ‘An Introduction to Capital Market” was organized by Department of Management Studies, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri (J&K) in collaboration with Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) under Global Money Week celebrated nationally from 22-28 March 2021. The webinar was attended by nearly 300 participants all across the country.
Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in his message said that BGSBU works in conjunction with apex academic institutions, research centres and business organisations to bring updated industry knowledge to the students to create future-ready professionals. Prof. Akbar said that BGSBU strives to equip future leaders with the right kind of knowledge , competence and character to address emerging socio-economic challenges. He advised the participants to develop the capabilities, underlying characteristics and behaviors that drive superior performance at work.The Vice Chancellor appluaded the efforts of the Department of Management Studies for organizing the webinar .
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Iqbal Parvez, Dean School of Management Studies urged participants to acquire skills, knowledge and experience to navigate through complex financial markets. Three resource persons from SEBI gave the presentations covering the various aspects of the Indian Capital Market and importance of investor’s awareness and protection. The first session was taken by Ms. Jenny John, Deputy General Manager, SEBI, Northern Region and she highlighted the importance of investment in the capital market and investors knowledge for making safe investment decisions. The second session was led by Mr. Ashish Kumar, Deputy General Manager, SEBI (NR) and he talked about the various initiatives taken by the SEBI for increasing the awareness of the investors towards making investments and for protecting the rights of investors. The third speaker of the day, Ms. Veena Kumari, Manager, SEBI (NR) highlighted the participation about the different components of capital market and how they are linked to each other. She also spoke about the process for making investments in Indian Capital Market.
Mamta Choudhary, Head, Department of Management Studies, welcomed the speakers and the participants and also introduced the theme of the webinar.In the end, a question/answer session was held and speakers answered the various queries of the participants. The proceedings of the webinar were conducted by Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Assistant Professor. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, BGSB University.
