Kishtwar: District Administration Kishtwar under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma on Friday organised a sports competition under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao for girls in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports department here at Chowgan Ground Kishtwar.
During the programme a Cricket Match and Tug of War competitions were organised in which students from different schools participated. BVM school kishtwar was declared 1st in inter-school tug of war competition. The 2nd and third positions went to ABN Public School-and Jamai Public High School respectively.
Cultural programme and Nukkad Nataks on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao were also presented on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion,DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur while giving her own example said that parents play an important role in shaping the future of their children and asked the parents to treat both boys and girls equally. She also laid stress on the importance of providing education to girls.She further added that girls are important stakeholders in the development of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of their needs and empowerment. She also stressed upon the importance of physical and mental fitness of the girl child for their overall development. Prizes were also distributed among the winners at the conclusion of the function. Zorawar Singh ,PET was stage secretary on the ocassion who managed entire programme.
