28th Annual Football Championship begins, 2 matches played

Srinagar: The Srinagar edition of 28th Annual Football Championship kick started on Thursday with two matches being played at TRC Turf ground. The first match was played between Food & Supplies XI (F&S) and Novelty Sports Club. Novelty Sports defeated F&S XI by a solitary goal. The second matches was played between DFA Bandipora XI & Downtown FC. The match started with an agressive note & both the teams exhibited quality Football play & got lot of appreciation from the spectators. Bandipora boys tried hard to penetrate but could not find the net. It was in the 25th minute of Ist half that Downtown Hero’s made a brilliant move and succeeded in scoring a goal. The second half was virtually dominated by Bandipora boys & tried hard to equalize but could not break the solid defence of Downtown Hero’s FC. The match ended with Downtown Hero’s FC defeating DFA Bandipora XI by a solitary goal. Iftikhar Loan, Vice JKFA was the Chief Guest on the occasion & was introduced to the players.
